Job summary

South Middlesex Opportunity Council, Inc. is seeking a Housing Mobility Specialist for the SNO Mass program in Framingham, MA.

The role focuses on helping participants obtain rental housing in opportunity areas, providing mobility counseling, and supporting landlords and families through the housing search and move process. The position requires a relevant 4-year degree (Master’s preferred), 3+ years in social services, and valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• A 4 year degree in social work, public policy, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in social services/case management; real estate, subsidized housing or fair housing experience preferred.
• Counseling and assessment skills are essential.
• Familiarity with the Framingham/Metrowest region and transportation is important.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and insurance.
• Strong written and verbal communication, plus public speaking ability.
• Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead and deliver housing mobility workshops and training.
• Provide landlord support and recruitment.
• Assist families with housing applications, searches, tours and negotiations.
• Recruit families into the SNO Mass program from the Housing Choice Voucher program.
• Provide motivational counseling for voucher use in high-opportunity areas.
• Schedule enrollment and develop family plans with milestones and timelines.
• Assist with credit repair and rental history improvements for tenant screening.
• Coordinate with HUD regulations and local laws relevant to low-income housing.
• Collaborate with Relocation and Inspections teams to expedite unit inspections.
• Conduct neighborhood housing searches and provide referrals for needed services.
• Maintain records of counseling services and program outcomes.
