Job summary

Caltech in Pasadena is hiring a full-time Maintenance and Infrastructure Specialist to maintain Institute housing, including apartments, student houses and family residences. You will provide professional customer service and address routine issues with a team or alone.

Responsibilities include painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and locksmith tasks, plus HVAC coordination, inspections, moving heavy items, and occasional weekend or after-hours work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy environment.
• Must have basic computer skills and be able to perform tasks on iOS devices.
• Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
• Requires good problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong customer service and ability to work with diverse groups.
• Willing to work after hours and weekends.
• Must possess a valid Driver's license and be able to drive Institute vehicles.
• Comfortable using power tools.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance services for housing units including rehab, renovation, and preventive maintenance.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests.
• Paint interiors and exteriors; patching and drywall.
• Perform plumbing repairs, rebuilds, and installations.
• Carpentry: walls, cabinets, doors, frames, and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot telecommunications and network wiring in facilities.
• Electrical: wiring, circuits, lights, and alarm systems.
• Locksmith: install and repair locks.
• HVAC coordination and contractor liaison.
• Move heavy furniture and assist with deliveries.
• Occasional weekend or after-hours work.
• Assist in Emergency Action Plan for Housing.
• Other duties as assigned.
