Job summary

T E C Industrial Inc is seeking a Housing/Intake Specialist to support intake, housing assessment, diversion, and placement for clients entering shelter. You will identify immediate housing needs, explore alternatives to shelter, and connect clients to housing resources.

The role requires collaboration with Social Services, Housing staff, DHS, and community partners to ensure clients access appropriate housing options and services. Experience in housing or shelter settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or relevant college experience preferred.
• Two years of shelter, housing, intake, or homelessness services experience preferred.
• Experience with CARES or other client management systems such as CAPS, HOMES, CURRENT preferred.
• Strong intake, interviewing, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with diverse clients and collaborate with DHS and housing providers.
• Trauma-informed, client-centered approach to services.

Responsibilities

• Complete intake and housing-related assessments for clients entering the assessment site.
• Conduct diversion conversations with clients to determine safe and appropriate alternatives to shelter.
• Explore housing options with clients, including returning to a previous residence or other community-based options.
• Identify barriers to housing and develop realistic solutions with the client.
• Provide information and referrals to housing resources, rental assistance, and community programs.
• Assist clients in identifying housing opportunities to avoid shelter or move to permanent housing.
• Coordinate with Housing staff, Case Managers, DHS, and providers to pursue housing opportunities.
• Obtain and review client information, identification, and eligibility documentation.
• Explain intake, assessment, diversion, shelter placement, and housing processes clearly to clients.
• Enter and maintain accurate client information in CARES and other systems.
