Job summary

The City of Greensboro is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to inspect residential properties for Minimum Housing Code and IPMC violations, respond to complaints, and manage a caseload. The role involves presenting evidence before a quasi-judicial board and possibly attending community meetings.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, data entry and MS Word/Excel skills, customer service experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 1+ years enforcing a law, ordinance, code, or HOA rules.
• Data entry and MS Word/Excel experience.
• Customer service experience and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect single-family and multi-family dwellings for violations of the Minimum Housing Code and IPMC.
• Inspect for violations of nuisance ordinances and respond to complaints.
• Issue notices to property owners and conduct hearings related to violations.
• Manage caseloads and report progress; update case management in software.
• Present evidence before the Minimum Housing Standards Commission; attend community meetings if required.
