The City of Greensboro is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to inspect residential properties for Minimum Housing Code and IPMC violations, respond to complaints, and manage a caseload. The role involves presenting evidence before a quasi-judicial board and possibly attending community meetings.
Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, data entry and MS Word/Excel skills, customer service experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Full Salary Range: $46,818 - $89,644 Annually Hiring Salary Range: $46,818 - $65,915

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
This position conducts inspections of single-family and multi-family dwelling units to determine if there are violations of the City's Minimum Housing Code and the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC). The position also conducts inspections for violations of the City’s Nuisance ordinances (lots and vehicles). The position is responsible for responding to complaints or reports of ordinance violations, issuing appropriate notices to property owners, and conducting hearings with property owners related to identified violations (all within specified time frames). The position is responsible for both managing a caseload of active ordinance violations and reporting on individual case progress when requested. The position is responsible for updating activities related to case management in the code compliance software system within specified periods. This position is also responsible for presenting evidence before the City's Minimum Housing Standards Commission, a quasi-judicial board. The position may be responsible for attending community or neighborhood meetings.
Certifications/Courses must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
