Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development is seeking a Community Coordinator to serve as a Hearing Representative within the Division of Adjudications. You will manage appeals from receipt to resolution, prepare documents and exhibits, and liaison with appellants and agency units to ensure timely decisions.

The role offers remote work up to two days per week and a collaborative, data-driven team environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus two years of community work or related activities.
High School graduation with six years of related experience acceptable.
Education/experience equivalent to above with at least one year of the first option.

Responsibilities

Represent HPD at informal hearings and reviews, and assist with case preparation.
Review casefiles for procedural issues and maintain timeliness.
Create a clear timeline of events to support HPD decisions.
Prepare cases for hearings and present exhibits to support the agency's position.
Manage communications with appellants, agencies, and external parties.
Calendar, schedule, and track appeals using internal databases.
Assist with training and onboarding of Appeals staff as needed.
Suggest improvements to appeals processes and case management.
Contribute to special projects aligned with agency priorities.
