Job summary

Collaborative Support Programs of NJ seeks a full-time Rapid Rehousing Specialist in Essex County to help people experiencing homelessness obtain and maintain housing. Under supervision, you will coordinate housing resources and assist with HUD-VASH and income supports, while building relationships with landlords and partners.

You will work in a grant-funded program with 6 weeks PTO and 11 holidays. A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and strong organizational, trauma-informed, and computer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a mental health-related discipline or a High School Diploma/GED.
• 2+ years of related experience in housing, homelessness, social services, property management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of the causes, trends, challenges, and potential solutions related to poverty and homelessness.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with individuals, businesses, landlords, and community partners.
• Strong knowledge of strengths-based and solution-focused practices.
• Willingness to share lived experience in relation to mental health/substance use and homelessness.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and general computer applications.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
• Bilingual skills are a plus!

Responsibilities

• Educate individuals and families on housing vouchers and rental assistance programs and eligibility.
• Develop and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, referral agencies, and community partners.
• Guide individuals through housing search, applications, documentation, landlord communications, and addressing barriers to housing stability.
