Job summary

Luther Manor in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin seeks a Houseperson to perform daily floor care in corridors, activity and craft rooms, dining areas, and other spaces as assigned.

The role requires friendly interaction with residents, families, staff and visitors, strong English communication, physical stamina, and reliability; weekend rotation may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interact tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors and volunteers.
• Must read, write and communicate in English.
• Must be able to spend most of the shift moving about the work area.
• Must be physically capable of eight-hour shifts and lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of safe chemical and equipment use.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily floor care in corridors, activity and craft rooms, dining rooms and other areas.
• Handle trash removal and linen pickups as assigned by housekeeping supervisor.
• Interact with residents, staff and visitors in a courteous manner.
• Organize time, set priorities and complete assignments under supervision.
• Participate in or initiate problem solving and work positively with coworkers.
• Maintain hand-eye coordination for routine tasks and monitor safety.

Job description

As the Houseperson you will perform the daily floor care of the corridors, activity and craft rooms, dining rooms and any other areas assigned. Additionally, you will also perform trash removal and linen pickups and other work duties as assigned by the housekeeping supervisor.

Must have the ability to interact tactfully, diplomatically and effectively with staff, residents, family members, visitors, volunteers and other Luther Manor guest.

• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with residents and staff.
• Must have the ability to read, write and communicate using the English language.
• Must have the ability to spend 90% of the work shift moving about the work area.
• Must be physically capable of performing job functions throughout an eight-hour shift, include up to approximately 35 pounds.
• Must be able to demonstrate skills and knowledge of the proper use of chemicals and equipment use.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to work a periodic weekend rotation.
• Must possess the ability to organize and manage time, set priorities and complete assignments on a timely basis under the supervision of the housekeeping supervisor.
• Actively participates in or initiates problem solving in job-related issues. Works positively with coworkers
• Ability to frequently perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to see objects closely, discriminate colors, and to hear normal sounds within some background of noise.
