Hi-Lo Hotel, Autograph Collection by Marriott in Portland, OR, is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to lead our housekeeping team and uphold Marriott brand standards across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.

You will manage staffing, scheduling, training, quality assurance, labor costs, inventory, and cross-department collaboration to deliver exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of housekeeping leadership experience in a hotel environment.
• Supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, quality standards, and labor management.
• Experience creating staff schedules and managing department productivity.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Position Summary

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations, ensuring guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas consistently meet Marriott brand standards and exceed guest expectations.

This position provides leadership and direction to the housekeeping team while managing staffing, scheduling, training, quality assurance, labor costs, inventory control, and departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping Operations

• Lead and manage the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department.
• Maintain an organized, efficient, and productive housekeeping operation.
• Ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas meet cleanliness and presentation standards.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality, cleanliness, and brand compliance.
• Monitor departmental productivity and implement improvements as needed.

Team Leadership & Development

• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train housekeeping associates.
• Coach and develop team members through ongoing feedback and performance management.
• Conduct department meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching conversations.
• Promote a positive, engaging, and team-focused work environment.
• Address employee performance concerns and implement corrective action when necessary.

Scheduling & Labor Management

• Develop staffing schedules based on occupancy forecasts and business demands.
• Monitor labor expenses and productivity to meet financial goals.
• Manage payroll while maintaining service excellence and operational efficiency.

Inventory & Asset Management

• Maintain appropriate inventory levels for linens, guest supplies, amenities, and cleaning chemicals.
• Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly maintained and operating effectively.
• Assist with purchasing recommendations while adhering to budget guidelines.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with company safety programs.
• Train associates on proper chemical handling, equipment operation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain compliance with Marriott standards and hotel policies.

Cross-Department Collaboration

• Partner with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Accounting teams to support seamless hotel operations.
• Communicate effectively across departments to ensure exceptional service delivery and guest satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of housekeeping leadership experience in a hotel environment.
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, quality standards, and labor management.
• Experience creating staff schedules and managing department productivity.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Experience with Marriott hotels is a plus.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
