HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR / LAUNDRY SUPERVISOR – PM SHIFT JOB DUTIES

Oversee the responsibilities of the Housekeeping Department, including Public Area Cleaning, Laundry, and Guest Laundry Services. Serve as a working leader on the PM shift, actively participating in laundry operations while maintaining supervisory responsibility for the department and assigned associates. Work directly in the laundry operation and assist with processing approximately 550 pounds of laundry per hour, while ensuring productivity, quality, safety, and proper workflow are maintained. Supervise and coordinate PM-shift laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, finishing, stocking, and distribution of linens, terry, and other hotel laundry. Ensure laundry equipment is operated safely and efficiently and that production goals are consistently achieved. Monitor laundry inventory, linen levels, par levels, and the availability of clean linen needed to support guestrooms and hotel operations. Maintain high standards in all aspects of internal and external service. Promote unity, teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment throughout the department. Actively participate in all aspects of housekeeping operations, including deep cleaning, laundry, and public areas as operational needs require. Communicate with guests in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner. Supervise Housekeeping and Laundry teams to maximize the guest experience, exceed expectations, and efficiently complete daily departmental objectives. Observe, coach, and provide direction to associates regarding job performance, productivity, service standards, safety, attendance, appearance, and conduct. Watch for safety hazards, take immediate corrective action, and report hazards, incidents, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions to Housekeeping Management. Closely monitor day-to-day operations and ensure adequate staffing and workflow throughout the PM shift. Ensure all Housekeeping and Laundry service standards are met and consistently adhered to. Regularly inspect public areas, laundry areas, linen storage areas, and other assigned operational areas to ensure cleanliness, quality, and compliance with standards. Facilitate consistent quality of service and cleanliness to exceed guest expectations. Supervise performance, attendance, appearance, conduct, and productivity of staff. Work closely with Engineering to report equipment issues, maintenance needs, and facility concerns and to minimize operational disruptions. Work closely with Front Office to maximize guest satisfaction and ensure room and linen needs are met. Create, distribute, and ensure daily completion of staff checklists, production logs, inspection reports, laundry reports, and other necessary departmental documentation. Monitor and maintain accurate laundry production and operational records. Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary laundry, housekeeping, linen, and work areas at all times. Assist with training and onboarding new associates and reinforce proper operating procedures and service standards. Provide hands‑on support during periods of high occupancy, staffing shortages, or increased laundry volume. Ensure proper completion of shift handoffs and communicate important operational information to Housekeeping Management and incoming shifts. Maintain familiarity with the hotel's computer operating systems and software as they relate to the scope of the position. Attend hotel and departmental meetings as necessary. Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor at all times. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Housekeeping Management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of Housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
  • Minimum of six months of experience as a Housekeeping Inspector or in a comparable quality‑control role.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in Housekeeping, Laundry, or a similar hospitality environment.
  • Previous experience working in a high‑volume commercial hotel laundry operation is preferred.
  • Experience supervising or working within a laundry operation processing approximately 550 pounds per hour is strongly preferred.
  • Prior guest relations training or demonstrated guest‑service experience.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co‑workers, and management.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions, operating procedures, and departmental documentation.
  • Knowledge of the safe and proper use of cleaning and laundry products and equipment.
  • Ability to work a PM shift and remain actively engaged in hands‑on laundry operations while performing supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
  • Ability to lead, coach, motivate, and hold associates accountable while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
  • Ability to move, traverse, and position oneself to reach corners, floors, elevated areas, laundry equipment, and other operational areas.
  • Ability to observe conditions, detect odors, and identify potential cleanliness, safety, or equipment concerns.
  • Ability to position and navigate carts weighing up to 200 pounds in tight spaces.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment including commercial washers and dryers, folding/finishing equipment, spray bottles, vacuums, mops, brooms, and floor buffers.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and position loads of at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, push, pull, and perform physical housekeeping and laundry duties for an entire shift.
  • Must be able to perform the essential physical and operational requirements of the position while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
