Job summary

Avera Tyler Hospital is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain a clean and aseptic hospital environment. You will perform cleaning in patient care areas, operating and emergency rooms, and assist with laundry to ensure ample linens for all departments. The role requires attention to safety and infection control, with a Monday–Friday schedule 5:30 a.m.

to 2:00 p.m. Every third weekend is required. High School or GED or equivalent experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED Equivalent; or 1–3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs designated cleaning in in-patient care areas.
  • Disinfects various items in patient rooms.
  • Cleans floors, walls, ceilings; operating and emergency rooms.
  • Cleans offices, dining room, and assigned departments; dusts, washes and cleans fixtures and surfaces.
  • Empties trash containers and disposes of refuse; mops and vacuums floors.
  • Reports equipment maintenance and supplies needs to Housekeeping Manager.
  • Maintains safety and infection control procedures.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewAccountable for performing cleaning duties to provide a clean and aseptic facility, and performing laundry duties to provide ample quantity of linens to all departments and assuring the provisions of high quality service.What you will doPerforms designated cleaning in-patient care areas. Disinfects various items in the patient rooms. Performs designated cleaning in operating and emergency rooms. Cleans all floors, walls, and ceilings. Cleans isolation areas according to special standards and procedures.Performs designated cleaning of offices, dining room, and assigned departments; dusts; washes and cleans such items as chairs, sinks, mirrors, designated equipment, telephones, blackboards, fixtures, counter, windows, bathrooms, lights and wall fixtures, walls vents, tables and chairs; empties ash trays and trash containers and disposes of refuse; mops and vacuums floors and carpets and fills dispensers as needed.Reports required equipment maintenance and supplies needed to the Housekeeping Manager. Demonstrates knowledge of the strategic and operational plans of the facility and actively supports these on a daily basis, and as part of this involvement actively supports all facility functions.Assists in cleaning the laundry area and equipment according to established policies and procedures and performs additional duties as assigned.Records statistical data. A log of laundry poundage by department and a performance breakdown log are kept on a daily basis. Mends torn linens of good quality and puts them back into circulation.Performs safety & infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, residents, and staff. This includes understanding and following all safety and infection control policies and procedures.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
