Summary
- General Summary Statement: Cleans and services facility building areas, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies around the facility. Performs a variety of Environmental Services duties to maintain the facility in an orderly and sanitary condition. In the absence of the supervisor, the Housekeeper III prioritizes and assigns tasks to staff as needed. This position is responsible for radio communication on weekends, evenings, and nights as needed with the switchboard and Housekeeping Department staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Lead Responsibilities: a) Prioritizes tasks and assigns them to Housekeeping Staff. b) Distributes supplies to staff. c) Delegates SOS requests promptly from the switchboard. d) Responsible for radio communication on weekends, evenings, or as needed with the switchboard and Housekeeping Staff. e) Ensures all forms are filled out and returned to the proper bin at the end of the shift.
- Communicates with supervisor regarding service problems, concerns, emergencies, etc.
- Performs all cleaning, floor care, and project assignments within area of responsibility or as directed by supervisor.
- Unit Rooms and Space Cleaning: a) Properly assembles necessary cleaning supplies and equipment and transports them to the necessary area. b) Cleans all horizontal and vertical surfaces (e.g., light fixtures, top of windows, door frames, picture frames, chart holders, fire hose cabinets). c) Changes cubicle curtains/drapes as needed. Removes, washes, and rehings blinds. d) Removes trash and linen from all hospital areas. e) Cleans patient rooms and bathrooms/fixtures upon discharge within 30-minute turnaround time.
- Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Uses cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment, and tools efficiently and effectively.
- Performs related services such as bed moves, changing mattresses, stocking supplies, etc.
- Maintains high standards; works steadily at an efficient pace; achieves high QA scores.
- Responds rapidly and thoroughly to emergencies, spills, and special needs.
- Maintains equipment, tools, and storage areas in clean, orderly, and good operating condition. Respects hospital and company property.
- Interacts cheerfully, supportively, and professionally with staff, patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Adheres to department attendance, break, behavior, dress, and safety policies.
- Uses good judgment around patients and visitors, remaining professional at all times.
- Takes initiative in service delivery and responding to needs.
- Assists colleagues as needed and responds to instructions appropriately.
Credentials
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Minimum one year experience in quality housekeeping services in a hospital, institutional environment (e.g., college, school), or hospitality industry.
- High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and write; excellent interpersonal skills.
