Job summary

The Salvation Army's PMC-Lynchburg Corps in Lynchburg, VA seeks a dedicated housekeeper to keep shelter spaces clean, safe and orderly. Responsibilities include cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas, washing linens, and general facility upkeep in a shelter setting.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–2:00pm (28 hours/week). Pay: $14.25–$14.50 per hour. High School Diploma or GED required; experience in shelter housekeeping preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year of general housekeeping experience, preferably in a shelter, residential, or institutional setting.
• Or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position is responsible for:

Performs a variety of housekeeping duties in a shelter setting to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Cleans bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas; collects, washes, stores, and distributes linens; ensures the overall neatness and cleanliness of the shelter on a daily basis; and supports general facility upkeep.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting materials on a frequent basis, relieved by fewer periods of sitting.

Qualifications: WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Six months to one year experience performing general housekeeping duties, preferably in a shelter, residential, or institutional setting.
• OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
