Gateway Film Foundation Job Description: House Manager
Position Overview
The House Manager is responsible for executing tasks designed to: support the Gateway Film Foundation mission, maintain legally compliant
business practices, ensure Foundation policies are followed at all times, achieve budgeted sales and expense goals, assist in the creation of
Coordinator and Associate scheduling, keep the Foundation patrons, our employees, and our assets safe, and help Foundation Associates
succeed through coaching, direction, and discipline, when appropriate.
This role requires an organized and pragmatic worker, regularly exhibiting our values while helping to advance the Gateway Film Foundation
mission.
The House Manager helps the General Manager lead the Film Center team and takes an important role in executing daily tasks.
Responsibilities
Achieving Goals
● Promotes the mission of Gateway Film Foundation, ensures policy compliance, achieves budget goals, and promotes workplace
safety guidelines.
● Supervises and manages the daily performance of scheduled hospitality and service staff, including Coordinators and Associates.
● Is responsible for the appropriate discipline of Coordinators and Associates when acts of policy non-compliance occur.
● Takes an active role in the creation of work schedules for hospitality and service staff, including Coordinators and Associates.
● Ensures policies and processes are properly executed and helps Associates understand how their jobs connect with the goals of
Gateway Film Foundation.
● Communicates individual performance expectations and results to Film Center employees.
● Manages project planning, execution, and on-time delivery of assigned tasks.
● Delivers regular updates to the General Manager regarding the performance of annual goals and objectives.
● Accepts a leadership role in ensuring the culture of the Center reflects our Foundation mission and values.
Organizational Leadership
● Ensures all Gateway Film Foundation policies are followed at all times and communicates and documents gaps in compliance.
● Celebrates good performances and holds unsuccessful employees accountable for poor performances. Documents and reports both
regularly and thoroughly.
● Facilitates collaboration and effective communications with teammates throughout the Foundation; promotes a positive,
mission-driven, multicultural work environment.
● Manages patron service and operational processes that will enable Gateway Film Center to achieve its objectives.
● Takes a leadership role in ensuring legally compliant business standards are maintained in all aspects of the Film Center.
● Works regularly to reduce shrinkage, from the perspectives of spoilage, waste, and theft.
Community Relations and Fundraising
● Serves as a Gateway Film Foundation representative to the organization’s constituents, staff and the general public.
● Assists in the execution of fundraising programs and initiatives for corporate, government, and individual donors.
Visitor Experience
● Takes a leadership role in the continual coaching, training, and development of Film Center employees.
● Ensures that internal and external activities are executed to the highest possible standards.
● Assists in the delivery of high quality and innovative programming that meets the needs and desires of the communities Gateway
Film Foundation serves.
● Takes a leadership role in the management of the myGFC membership program, the Gallery at Gateway Film Center, and the Film
Reports to
General Manager, Gateway Film Center
Anticipated Schedule
Varies based on need but includes evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Compensation
Hourly wage plus 10% incentive, paid quarterly, based on the performance and compliance of hospitality and service staff, including: Coordinators and Associates, and the achievement of admissions sales, bar sales, event sales, and labor expenses, based on budgeted expectations.
