Job summary

Salt Lake City is seeking an Hourly YouthCity Program Instructor II to supervise elementary and middle school youth and deliver YouthCity afterschool activities. The role supports the afterschool program through 2026-2027 and offers potential extension into the summer 2027 program.

The ideal candidate is at least 21 with a high school diploma, experience with school-aged youth, and a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 3 months.

Responsibilities

Once hired staff may select to continue employment for the 2027 YouthCity summer program.**About the Position:**This role requires teaching in an out-of-school-time setting, program implementation, communication with program staff, data collection and developing strategies to meet and exceed all organizational goals and objectives.The ideal candidate will have a High School graduate or equivalent and be at least 21 years of age. Experience working with school-aged children, middle school age teens, and/or other related experience is preferred.**About the Team:**We are hiring staff to work at all YouthCity locations. Teams of Instructors report to a full-time Senior Community Programs Manager who oversees each location.**Work Schedule:**This position will work 25 hours a week. During the school year, the work hours are Monday – Thursday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday from Noon – 6:00 p.m. During the Summer Program, this position will work 5 hour blocks Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. depending on program necessity.**Position Wage:** $19.00/hr.**IMPORTANT:** Early application submittal is encouraged. Perform all other duties requested.* Report daily to Senior Community Programs Manager**Minimum Qualifications:*** High School graduate or equivalent and at least 21 years of age.* Experience in working with school-aged children, middle school youth, and/or other related experience.* Possession of valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment.* Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.* Ability to work with a diverse population – including both youth and adults.* Ability to resolve conflict situations.* Ability to deal with both youth and adults in a non-judgmental atmosphere.* Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate with individuals from different social and ethnic backgrounds.**Desired Skill:*** Bilingual preferred.**Working Conditions:*** Moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull, or lift medium weights. Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching, and bending.
