Job summary

Salt Lake City is seeking an Hourly YouthCity Program Instructor I to supervise elementary and middle school youth and implement YouthCity program goals. This role supports the afterschool program through the 2026-2027 school year, with potential extension into the 2027 summer program.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and is at least 18 years old, with experience working with school-aged children.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
• Experience working with school-aged children and middle school youth.
• Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.
• Ability to work with a diverse population, including both youth and adults.
• Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate with individuals from different social and ethnic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to program participants in program activities.
• Maintain attendance records as required by program.
• Assist with program’s grant required assessments to ensure program quality metrics are met.
• Develop and plan weekly activities based on learning objectives as outlined by YouthCity programs.
• Teach group activities and participate in all activities with program participants.
• Follow program procedures to safeguard health, safety, and well-being of participants.
• Prepare, clean up, and maintain facility daily.
• Assist in providing daily snacks.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Participate in one-on-one professional development meetings with Senior Community Program Managers.
• Provide a safe/healthy environment for program participants.
• Perform all other duties requested.
• Report daily to Senior Community Programs Manager.
