Sandy City is hiring a Youth Camp Counselor II to organize and supervise youth programs in the city’s recreation department. The role is part-time and non-benefitted, with a starting pay range of $17.44 to $27.91 per hour.

Under supervision, you will help run activities, oversee participants, and ensure safety. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with experience in youth recreation or camps; a Utah driver’s license and CPR/First Aid certifications are desirable.

• STARTING SALARY:** $17.44 - $27.91/Hour
• STATUS:** Part-Time (non-benefitted

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator-Youth Programs, organizes and supervises youth programs and participants.

• MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:** High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Requires experience in job-related activities, including working with youth recreation, camps, or related programs; must be 18 years of age or older per city policy to work with youth, work various shifts, and for insurance purposes. Must possess a valid Utah Driver's license. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Knowledge of games, sports, recreation, arts and crafts, storytelling and music; leadership, team building, and self-motivation skills and problem-solving skills; correct English usage, spelling and vocabulary. Great responsibility for the care, condition and use of materials, equipment, tools, etc.; great responsibility for making decisions affecting the activities of people, including responsibility for worker motivation and satisfaction. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, employees, staff and the public; contacts requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction and obtain desired result; outside contact with public presenting information. Regular use of a copy machine and telephone; occasional use of a personal computer, and city vehicle. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
