Career Opportunity:

The City of Las Vegas Parks & Recreation department invites applications for Pool Manager.

This is an hourly, part-time position with scheduled hours limited to 19 hours or less per week. The shift will vary based on program and facility needs. Hourly employees are limited to 1,560 hours over any 18-month period.

Supervision Received
Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory or management staff.

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for current and future openings, which may include part-time positions.

SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process includes a review of all applications, with only the most qualified candidates participating in an interview. Final selection involves a hiring interview, and the candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Some positions may require preliminary background checks.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Safeguarding the pool and patrons
• Teaching Learn to Swim courses and possibly competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, water polo, and diving
• Scheduling and supervising staff, ensuring timecards are completed
• Setting up and taking down equipment for programs and/or events
• Handling cash transactions
• Opening and closing the pool
• Maintaining order and cleanliness in the pool and surrounding areas

Minimum qualifications:
Age: Minimum 17 years old (preferred 18+)

Experience:

• At least 1 year managing a pool or facility
• Public contact or customer service experience

Training:

• Education or training sufficient for reading and writing at a job-appropriate level
• Basic computer skills
• Bilingual skills are desirable

Licenses and Certifications:

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
• Water Safety Instructor Certification (note: shallow water and aquatic attraction lifeguarding certification are not applicable)
• Must obtain Lifeguard Training Instructor certification within 3 months of hire
• Reliable transportation is preferred but not required
