Job summary

Vincennes University (VU) is seeking Experience VU Peer Tutors to provide student-centered academic support and mentorship, helping peers develop subject mastery, study skills, and executive function strategies.

Acting as a dependable academic role model, this position fosters an inclusive environment that encourages independent learning, maintains confidentiality, and supports students with varied learning styles.

Qualifications

• Understanding sensitivity toward the students’ needs.
• Dependable and trustworthy.
• Demonstration of leadership qualities.
• Willingness to problem-solve and work independently.
• Ability to effectively communicate with and mentor students with varied learning styles.
• Recommendation from a faculty member for tutoring subjects.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrated leadership in academic settings.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competency in tutoring subjects, study skills, and executive function strategies
• Provide mentoring and encourage independent behavior
• Document the time and a brief description of all tutoring contacts
• Complete required training
• Maintain FERPA
