Job summary

Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach seeks an experienced Hotel Manager to lead day-to-day operations with a focus on Rooms, Front Office, Housekeeping, and Engineering. You will drive guest satisfaction, manage labor costs, and partner with department heads to deliver memorable coastal hospitality.

As a hands-on leader, you will be highly visible, conduct inspections, and guide teams to maintain high cleanliness and service standards while optimizing revenue and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a Hotel Manager or Assistant General Manager.
  • Strong Rooms and full-service hotel operations experience.
  • Experience leading Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and department managers.
  • Strong guest service, service recovery, and hotel quality standards.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, labor management, expense control, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Rooms operations, including Front Office, Housekeeping, and Engineering
  • Maintain high standards for guest service, cleanliness, and overall hotel presentation
  • Be highly visible throughout the hotel and serve as a hands-on resource for guests and team members
  • Monitor guest feedback, reviews, and service scores and lead timely follow-up and improvement efforts
  • Respond to guest concerns and service issues before they escape, ensuring appropriate resolution and follow-through
  • Conduct regular property walkthroughs and room inspections, including VIP inspections and surprise room inspections
  • Hold department leaders accountable for operational standards, service delivery, cleanliness, and follow-through
  • Lead Rooms meetings and create clear priorities and action plans for ongoing improvement
  • Support department managers with staffing, inventory, coverage, and day-to-day operational challenges
  • Oversee Housekeeping and Front Office performance, including payroll, scheduling, supplies, room readiness, and service standards
  • Review forecasts, schedules, labor levels, and overtime and make operational adjustments based on business needs
  • Monitor budgets, expenses, and departmental performance to support profitability and healthy flow-through
  • Balance financial goals with the guest experience when making operational decisions
  • Partner with department managers to identify opportunities to maximize revenue and improve operational efficiency
  • Coach, develop, and support department leaders and high-potential managers
  • Participate in hiring, training, performance management, and team development initiatives

Located along scenic Moonstone Beach Drive in Cambria, Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach offers a relaxed coastal retreat where modern comfort meets cozy, cottage-inspired charm. The recently renovated hotel features 46 inviting guest rooms with fireplaces and private patios, select ocean-view accommodations, a heated outdoor pool, and complimentary breakfast bites featuring local pastries, seasonal fruit, and San Luis Obispo-roasted coffee. Just steps from Moonstone Beach and minutes from downtown Cambria, Hearst Castle, local wineries, and other Central Coast attractions, Fireside Inn is an ideal home base for a relaxing seaside getaway.

THE ROLE

As Hotel Manager, you’ll be a key leader in the hotel’s day-to-day operations, with a strong focus on Rooms, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, guest experience, and financial performance. You’ll work closely with department leaders to maintain high service and cleanliness standards, manage labor and operating costs, respond quickly to guest feedback, and develop teams that are equipped to perform at their best. This is a highly visible role for a hands‑on leader who understands how the pieces of a full-service hotel come together. You will:

  • Communicate operational needs, challenges, and opportunities to the General Manager and Executive Committee
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and departmental action plans
  • Partner with other hotel leaders and business divisions to support the overall success of the property
