Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Providence, RI is seeking a General Maintenance technician to keep the property in peak condition. You will perform repairs, routine maintenance, and safety checks across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems to minimize guest disruption.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, training or trade school work, and the ability to read blueprints. We value reliability, attention to detail, and a guest‑focused approach.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field.
• Trade school and/or college course work in related field helpful.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Must communicate effectively with all levels of staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Make repairs to hotel air conditioning system: change filters, clean coils, replace motors.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment (boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
• Take required readings on equipment.
• Test cooling tower and record readings.
• Replace and program televisions as needed.
• Replace light switches, receptacles, bulbs and fixtures.
• Perform furniture repair.
• Replace and repair pumps.
• Perform plumbing repairs (clogged drains, copper pipe, etc).
• Understand and read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Trace and repair water lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
• Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records.
• Perform and maintain work to local, state and Federal codes.
• Test, clean and repair swimming pools and spas.
• Paint designated areas.
• Repair and finish sheet rock.
• Repair wall coverings.
• Repair and program hotel electronic lock system.
