Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the on-site maintenance of the hotel, supervise 1–2 technicians, and ensure high standards of service, safety, and equipment reliability. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, budgeting input, and cost control.

The ideal candidate has advanced vocational training with hands-on maintenance experience, strong English communication, and the ability to coordinate across departments to maximize guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction; professional certification and license required by law.
• Previous background from the extended stay industry or apartment building maintenance management preferred.
• Specialized knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
• Complex reading and writing abilities are required to document tasks, to order supplies, and to read equipment manuals including safety information.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on Sonesta Service standards in all interactions; train and supervise Maintenance staff.
• Ensure staff are trained and have tools to perform duties.
• Partner with General Manager for recruitment, training and development of Maintenance staff.
• Perform maintenance and repair on interior/exterior of buildings, guest rooms, HVAC, and related systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and manage energy usage; maintain inspection logs.
• Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and manage purchasing and suppliers.
• Promote safety and proper use of protective equipment.
• Act as Manager on Duty as required and ensure compliance with health and safety laws.
