Job summary

Hotel de la Poste in New Orleans invites a Maintenance Engineer to keep our historic property running smoothly. You will respond to service calls, perform preventive maintenance, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other systems across the hotel, including guest rooms and facilities.

The role requires at least 6 months of related experience, high school diploma or trade training, and the ability to drive a pickup truck or snow removal equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent trade school required.
• 6+ months of maintenance experience in a hotel or similar setting.
• HVAC, electrical, and plumbing knowledge; carpentry and renovation abilities.
• May require ability to drive a pickup truck and snow removal equipment.
• Ability to maintain logs and records; work in a team and make independent decisions.

Responsibilities

• Respond to engineering service calls promptly and courteously.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical and guest rooms).
• Monitor engineering functions during off-shift times; respond to emergencies such as fire alarms and power failures.
• Make rounds to ensure everything is in working order and complete work orders daily.
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance programs and parts usage; report unsafe conditions.
