Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to perform maintenance across hotel facilities, equipment, and grounds. You will execute planned repairs, perform preventative maintenance, and support safety and quality standards in a fast-paced hotel environment.

The role requires basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical knowledge, plus English proficiency and willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
• Reading and writing abilities are required to read instructions and safety manuals.
• Mathematical skills including budgeting, percentages, and variances.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Sonesta Service standards in all guest interactions.
• Identify hazards and inform management of threats to safety or security.
• Complete work orders: repairs to ceilings, lighting, plumbing, and equipment; perform preventative maintenance.
• Monitor equipment and electrical systems for efficiency; perform minor repairs or replacements as needed.
• Refurbish furniture and fixtures; paint and finish as required.
• Maintain exterior areas, signs, lighting, and snow removal.
• Ensure security of tools, supplies, and equipment; keep areas clean and presentable.
• Prepare equipment for the next day’s work and ensure proper operation.
