Job summary

The Canopy by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown is seeking a Restaurant Utility Person/Dishwasher to support back-of-house kitchen operations and maintain cleanliness at Portico, the hotel’s on-site cafe. You will help with set up and tear down for functions and uphold sanitation standards in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Duties include washing and sanitizing dishes, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, handling waste disposal, and assisting dining staff with table clearing.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing machines and manual methods.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and equipment.
• Practice “clean as you go” method to maintain all areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables. Ensure garbage bins are emptied regularly and kept clean.
• Help with receiving and storing kitchen supplies and food deliveries. Ensure items are properly labeled and stored.
• Assist serving staff with clearing and cleaning tables in the dining area, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and glassware are promptly removed and taken to the kitchen for washing.
• Work closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel to ensure efficient operations offering support where needed to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Adhere to all hotel policies, health and safety regulations, and food handling guidelines.
• Attend meetings/training as required by management.
• Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor
