Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels in New York is seeking a Utility to support hotel dining operations by maintaining cleanliness, operating dishwashing equipment, and assisting with basic food prep as needed.

The ideal candidate will communicate in basic English, be physically able to lift and stand long hours in hot, humid environments, and have experience in dishwashing or janitorial roles; flexibility for weekends and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in basic English.
• Ability to count and follow directions.
• Physically able to lift, bend, stand, and perform manual tasks in hot, humid environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machines to clean dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Pre-wash items, load/unload machines, and inspect cleanliness of wares.
• Hand-wash kitchen equipment and sanitize surfaces.
• Restock cleaned wares and keep workstations organized.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, bar, bathrooms, and service areas.
• Remove and properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Clean and maintain garbage compactor and trash areas.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment per safety guidelines (OSHA).
• Support basic food prep and banquet setup as needed.
• Follow all sanitation, health, and safety regulations.
• Report on maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• All utilities are required to properly store Ecolab solutions and cleaning supplies in their designated storage areas upon delivery.
