Job summary

PGA National Resort in Florida is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting team, ensuring timely financial reporting and strong internal controls. The role supervises daily finance operations, trains staff, and coordinates audits while acting as principal liaison in the Director of Finance's absence.

You will oversee P&L reporting, month-end close, budget development, and financial analysis, driving accuracy and governance across departments.

Qualifications

• Professional designation or accounting degree or enrolled in recognized accounting program.
• Minimum of 3 years’ hotel accounting experience with senior responsibility.
• Proven leadership and coaching skills in developing cross-trained teams.
• Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software including Microsoft Office, POS, Opera, and Sales & Catering.
• Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of P&L statements and post journal entries.
• Oversee month-end balance sheet reconciliations and analysis.
• Train department heads on labor management system usage and lead weekly reviews.
• Provide training on revenue, payroll and expense matters.
• Create and monitor internal control SOPs for the resort.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and tax obligations; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Audit monthly sales and use tax filings for accuracy.
• Participate in annual budget, strategic plan and monthly forecasts; analyze variances.
• Ensure timely and accurate management reports across daily to monthly cycles.
• Develop an engaged accounting team; recruit, train and review performance.
