Job summary

The Newbury Boston, a Highgate Hotels property, is seeking a Staff Accountant to assist the Director of Finance and the team in maintaining accurate financial reporting and internal controls. The role emphasizes accounts payable, general cashier duties, and income audit, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely reporting.

Responsibilities include daily review of income audit, weekly tax reconciliations, vendor reconciliations, month-end journal entries, and briefing management on variances.

Qualifications

• College courses in an associated or related field and/or related experience in a Hotel or Hospitality environment.
• Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office (Intermediate Excel and Basic Word).
• Accounts Payable and Payroll experience is preferred.
• Hotel PMS Opera is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review Income Audit report daily and manage Night audit packets through MDO and Revenue reporting.
• Prepare weekly Tax reconciliation for Room occupancy and Meals Tax.
• Reconcile OTA and 3rd party billings and receivables.
• Post wires/checks daily.
• Group Event billings and corporate account billings.
• Processing refunds, credit memos, and adjustments.
• Assist in the monthly close process by posting journal entries related to payroll, prepaid etc.
• Monitor, prepare, and communicate financial reports in accordance with Highgate Hotels required due dates.
