Job summary

SpringHill Suites Tampa North/I-75 Tampa Palms in Tampa, FL seeks an Engineering Assistant to maintain guest rooms, public areas, and building systems. The role is hands-on, safety-focused, and requires responding to maintenance requests and performing preventive tasks to keep the property guest-ready.

Responsibilities include repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and teamwork in a hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel, apartment, or commercial building maintenance preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry and general repairs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn on the job.
• Ability to identify problems and complete assignments with limited supervision.
• Dependable and able to work a Thursday–Monday schedule including weekends.
• Commitment to safety and ability to communicate with guests and team.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance throughout the hotel.
• Respond to guest room maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Assist with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and general repairs.
• Inspect rooms and public areas for maintenance or safety concerns.
• Document work performed and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment and building systems.
• Maintain pool area and equipment per hotel procedures.
• Support room-readiness by completing repairs accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate unresolved issues to hotel leadership.
• Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
• Follow safety procedures, including chemical handling and PPE usage.
