Job summary

Newport Hospitality Group is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the hotel's engineering and maintenance operations, overseeing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems while remaining hands-on when needed. Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering, maintenance, or facilities experience
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems
• Hands-on leader who troubleshoots problems with the team
• Experience with preventive maintenance, life-safety systems, and regulatory compliance
• Ability to manage contractors, vendors, expenses, and projects

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel
• Coach and develop the engineering team
• Maintain overall condition, safety, and appearance of the hotel
• Oversee major building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life-safety) while staying hands-on
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs and regular inspections
• Respond quickly to maintenance concerns and emergencies, coordinating with leadership and departments
• Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards and safety/building requirements
• Manage contractors, vendors, work orders, parts, tools, and supplies
• Support capital projects and balance immediate needs with asset protection
• Identify energy efficiency and cost-saving opportunities
