Job summary

The Lofton, located in Minneapolis, seeks a maintenance-focused hotel engineer responsible for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and preventive maintenance to uphold guest comfort and safety. You will document calls, perform PM on FF&E, manage cost controls, and ensure safety standards.

Strong communication and hands-on skills are essential. Reading safety documents, using hand and power tools, and maintaining a professional appearance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must read and interpret safety and maintenance documents.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and associates.
• Ability to work as an independent mechanic and use hand/power tools.
• Must stand, walk, bend, lift and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems within the hotel.
• Understand plumbing, piping, and electrical basics.
• Perform daily shift reports and log calls in the engineer's log.
• Monitor and close out calls through Operator; follow OSHA standards.
• Maintain interior and exterior of the building; assist in cost control.
• Troubleshoot and repair building systems, FF&E, motors, pumps, and chillers.
• Represent the hotel professionally and maintain grooming standards.
• Attend required Engineering Department meetings and perform other duties.

Job description

What you will be doing:

• 1. Maintain all HVAC and Refrigeration Systems within the Hotel
• 2. Basic understanding of Plumbing and Piping systems.
• 3. Basic understanding of Electricity.
• 4. Perform daily shift reports.
• 5. Document all calls in the Engineer's log.
• 6. Monitor and close out calls through Operator.
• 7. Follow all OSHA standards and procedures.
• 8. Maintain interior and exterior of building.
• 9. Promote excellent guest/associate rapport by reacting promptly, efficiently and courteously to all guests and associate requests.
• 10. Perform PM on all FF&E.
• 11. Assist in cost control: Heat, Power, Light, Sewer and Water.
• 12. Troubleshoot, repair and or maintain the following:
  • All building and FF&E
  • Air conditioning and Refrigeration equipment
  • Electrical systems
  • Mechanical equipment, IE motors, starters, pumps, fans, generators and chillers
  • Plumbing and drains
  • Pneumatic and electronic systems and controls
• 13. Ensure appropriate standards of conduct, hygiene, uniforms and appearance are maintained.
• 14. Represent the hotel with professionalism and decorum.
• 15. Make recommendations to his/her supervisor regarding improved methods and procedures to have a positive impact on guest/associate satisfaction.
• 16. Attend all required Engineering Department and other meetings.
• 17. Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous engineering experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as Lockout Tag Out, MSDS, safety awareness information, maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and associates
• Must be able to work as an independent mechanic
• Must be able to analyze problems, identify course of action and implement solutions.
• Represent the company in a courteous and well-groomed manner.
• Must be punched in, in uniform and ready for work as scheduled.
• Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, grasp, twist and stretch.
• Must be flexible with a positive attitude.
