Job summary

The Lofton, a division of Marcus Hotels & Resorts under The Marcus Corporation, seeks an ambitious building engineer. You will maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems, perform PM on FF&E, and ensure safe, efficient building operations while delivering excellent guest service in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Responsibilities include daily logs, OSHA compliance, and cost-control support. A high school diploma is preferred; prior engineering experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret maintenance documents.
• Able to communicate effectively with guests and associates.
• Able to work as an independent mechanic.
• Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems within the hotel.
• Basic understanding of plumbing, piping, and electrical systems.
• Perform daily shift reports and document calls in the Engineer’s log.
• Monitor and close out calls through Operator; follow OSHA standards.
• Maintain interior and exterior of building and promote guest/associate rapport.
• Perform PM on FF&E and assist in cost control for utilities.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain building systems and controls.
• Attend required Engineering Department meetings and perform other duties.

Job description

What you will be doing:

1. Maintain all HVAC and Refrigeration Systems within the Hotel
2. Basic understanding of Plumbing and Piping systems.
3. Basic understanding of Electricity.
4. Perform daily shift reports.
5. Document all calls in the Engineer’s log.
6. Monitor and close out calls through Operator.
7. Follow all OSHA standards and procedures.
8. Maintain interior and exterior of building.
9. Promote excellent guest/associate rapport by reacting promptly, efficiently and courteously to all guests and associate requests.
10. Perform PM on all FF&E.
11. Assist in cost control: Heat, Power, Light, Sewer and Water.
12. Troubleshoot, repair and or maintain the following:

• All building and FF&E
• Air conditioning and Refrigeration equipment
• Electrical systems
• Mechanical equipment, IE motors, starters, pumps, fans, generators and chillers
• Plumbing and drains
• Pneumatic and electronic systems and controls

1. Ensure appropriate standards of conduct, hygiene, uniforms and appearance are maintained.
2. Represent the hotel with professionalism and decorum.
3. Make recommendations to his/her supervisor regarding improved methods and procedures to have a positive impact on guest/associate satisfaction.

16.Attend all required Engineering Department and other meetings.

1. Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous engineering experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as Lockout Tag Out, MSDS, safety awareness information, maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and associates
• Must be able to work as an independent mechanic
• Must be able to analyze problems, identify course of action and implement solutions.
• Represent the company in a courteous and well-groomed manner.
• Must be punched in, in uniform and ready for work as scheduled.
• Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, grasp, twist and stretch.
• Must be flexible with a positive attitude.
