Job summary

The Marcus Corporation’s Marcus Hotels & Resorts is seeking a maintenance engineer to keep HVAC and refrigeration systems running at the Lofton Hotel. You will handle basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks, document daily activities, and close out service calls while ensuring safety and guest satisfaction.

Ideal candidates bring high school equivalence, previous engineering exposure, and the ability to read safety documents and use hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• Reader must interpret safety documentation and maintenance instructions.
• Strong communication with guests and associates is essential.
• Able to work independently as a mechanic on site.
• Analytical mindset to diagnose problems and implement solutions.
• Familiar with hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
• Dress and act professionally with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems within the hotel.
• Basic understanding of plumbing, piping, and electrical systems.
• Document daily shift reports and engineer's log entries.
• Monitor and close out calls through Operator; follow OSHA standards.
• Perform PM on FF&E and assist in cost control (heat/power/water).
• Troubleshoot and repair building systems: mechanical, electrical, plumbing.
• Represent hotel with professionalism; participate in required meetings.
• Attend to other duties as assigned.

Job description

What you will be doing:

1. Maintain all HVAC and Refrigeration Systems within the Hotel
2. Basic understanding of Plumbing and Piping systems.
3. Basic understanding of Electricity.
4. Perform daily shift reports.
5. Document all calls in the Engineer's log.
6. Monitor and close out calls through Operator.
7. Follow all OSHA standards and procedures.
8. Maintain interior and exterior of building.
9. Promote excellent guest/associate rapport by reacting promptly, efficiently and courteously to all guests and associate requests.
10. Perform PM on all FF&E.
11. Assist in cost control: Heat, Power, Light, Sewer and Water.
12. Troubleshoot, repair and or maintain the following:
    • All building and FF&E
    • Air conditioning and Refrigeration equipment
    • Electrical systems
    • Mechanical equipment, IE motors, starters, pumps, fans, generators and chillers
    • Plumbing and drains
    • Pneumatic and electronic systems and controls
13. Ensure appropriate standards of conduct, hygiene, uniforms and appearance are maintained.
14. Represent the hotel with professionalism and decorum.
15. Make recommendations to his/her supervisor regarding improved methods and procedures to have a positive impact on guest/associate satisfaction.
16. Attend all required Engineering Department and other meetings.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous engineering experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as Lockout Tag Out, MSDS, safety awareness information, maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and associates
• Must be able to work as an independent mechanic
• Must be able to analyze problems, identify course of action and implement solutions.
• Represent the company in a courteous and well-groomed manner.
• Must be punched in, in uniform and ready for work as scheduled.
• Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, grasp, twist and stretch.
• Must be flexible with a positive attitude.
