Job summary

The Lofton Hotel, part of Marcus Hotels & Resorts, seeks an on-site Maintenance Engineer to support HVAC and refrigeration systems, plumbing and electrical basics, and daily reporting. You will document issues, follow safety protocols, and help maintain building standards with guest-focused service.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and prior engineering experience; strong communication and independent work capability are essential for this role in Minneapolis.

Qualifications

• HVAC and refrigeration knowledge is preferred.
• Basic understanding of plumbing and electrical systems.
• Ability to read/interpret safety documents (Lockout Tagout, MSDS).
• Strong communication with guests and associates; independent work ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems within the hotel.
• Basic understanding of plumbing and piping systems; electrical systems.
• Perform daily shift reports and document calls in the engineer’s log.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain building systems (FF&E, motors, pumps, fans, generators, chillers).
• Follow OSHA standards and procedures; maintain interior and exterior conditions.
• Promote guest/associate rapport through prompt, courteous service.
• Assist in cost control for heat, power, water, and sewer.
• Attend Engineering Dept. meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

What you will be doing:

1. Maintain all HVAC and Refrigeration Systems within the Hotel
2. Basic understanding of Plumbing and Piping systems.
3. Basic understanding of Electricity.
4. Perform daily shift reports.
5. Document all calls in the Engineer’s log.
6. Monitor and close out calls through Operator.
7. Follow all OSHA standards and procedures.
8. Maintain interior and exterior of building.
9. Promote excellent guest/associate rapport by reacting promptly, efficiently and courteously to all guests and associate requests.
10. Perform PM on all FF&E.
11. Assist in cost control: Heat, Power, Light, Sewer and Water.
12. Troubleshoot, repair and or maintain the following:

• All building and FF&E
• Air conditioning and Refrigeration equipment
• Electrical systems
• Mechanical equipment, IE motors, starters, pumps, fans, generators and chillers
• Plumbing and drains
• Pneumatic and electronic systems and controls

Ensure appropriate standards of conduct, hygiene, uniforms and appearance are maintained.

Represent the hotel with professionalism and decorum.

Make recommendations to his/her supervisor regarding improved methods and procedures to have a positive impact on guest/associate satisfaction.

Attend all required Engineering Department and other meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous engineering experience preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as Lockout Tag Out, MSDS, safety awareness information, maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to communicate effective with guests and associates
• Must be able to work as an independent mechanic
• Must be able to analyze problems, identify course of action and implement solutions.
• Represent the company in a courteous and well-groomed manner.
• Must be punched in, in uniform and ready for work as scheduled.
• Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, grasp, twist and stretch.
• Must be flexible with a positive attitude.
