Commonwealth Hotels in Manhattan, KS is seeking a Hotel Restaurant Cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, follow Hilton/DoubleTree recipes, and help ensure guests enjoy a seamless dining experience from arrival to departure.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent food quality by checking ingredients for freshness, taste, temperature, and presentation.
  • Follow Hilton, DoubleTree, and local health department sanitation and food safety regulations.
  • Work closely with kitchen staff, servers, and management to maintain smooth service during high-volume periods.
  • Assist in receiving, rotating, and storing inventory and supplies.

Key Responsibilities for the Hotel Restaurant Cook include:
Food Preparation:
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to DoubleTree/Hilton recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, and special events.
Station Management:
  • Set up, stock, and maintain workstations to meet kitchen demands during service hours (line cooking, buffet preparation, banquet cooking, etc.).
Quality Control:
  • Ensure consistent food quality by checking ingredients for freshness, taste, temperature, and presentation.
Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Follow Hilton, DoubleTree, and local health department sanitation and food safety regulations (e.g., proper food handling, cleaning, temperature checks, and storage practices).
  • Work closely with kitchen staff, servers, and management to maintain smooth service, especially during high-volume periods like conferences, weddings, or game weekends (especially important in Manhattan, KS, with K-State events).
Inventory & Supplies:
  • Assist in receiving, rotating, and properly storing inventory and supplies. Help with monthly inventories when needed.
Guest Satisfaction:
  • Occasionally interact with guests (e.g., open kitchen, chef's station events) to ensure satisfaction and accommodate special requests.
Equipment Care:
  • Properly use and clean kitchen equipment, and report maintenance issues promptly to keep operations safe and efficient.
