Job summary

Island Hospitality Management, LLC is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer for our hotel to maintain and repair building systems and equipment, inspect property needs, and supervise maintenance staff. The role demands proactive problem solving, attention to safety, and a strong guest-service orientation.

You will coordinate with hotel management, manage budgets, solicit bids, ensure codes compliance, and uphold brand standards while delivering reliable, well-maintained facilities and a safe guest

Qualifications

• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
• Ability to work well in stressful situations and follow all safety procedures while working.
• Strong initiative and teamwork with a desire for achievement.
• Experience managing maintenance/engineering operations in hotel settings (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
• Working knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and pool chemical safety.
• Experience ordering supplies and inventory; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems and hotel equipment.
• Conducting ongoing room preventative maintenance and prioritizing work orders.
• Inspecting property to identify current and potential needs; coordinating with inspectors for compliance.
• Supervising and scheduling maintenance staff; managing department expenditures to meet budget.
• Soliciting bids from contractors and evaluating proposals with hotel management.
• Maintaining exterior upkeep and pool cleanliness and chemical content; ensure codes compliance.
