Job summary

The Marquesa Hotel in Key West, FL, is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the property’s engineering and maintenance operations. The role focuses on maintaining facilities, equipment, and life-safety systems while minimizing guest disruption.

Responsibilities include leading the engineering team, managing HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other systems, and overseeing preventative maintenance, capital projects, budgets, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of facilities maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in hospitality or property management.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering or facilities leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and boiler operations.
• Project management and renovation experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Engineering team, including hiring, training, scheduling, payroll, and performance.
• Manage maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, kitchen and laundry equipment, and general building systems.
• Develop, implement, and track preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel equipment.
• Ensure maintenance requests and repairs are completed promptly, accurately, and to hotel standards.
• Oversee capital projects, renovations, vendors, and budgets; monitor timelines and quality.
• Manage departmental purchasing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, and expenses.
• Ensure life-safety equipment is inspected, tested, maintained, and compliant.
• Conduct fire safety inspections and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
• Partner with GM on maintenance plans; respond to guest concerns professionally.
• Additional duties as assigned
