Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a dedicated Hot Work Coordinator to oversee daily hot work on ship repair projects in San Diego, CA. You will manage permits, coordinate with ships force, contractors, and project teams, and maintain logs to ensure safety and schedule adherence.

The role requires knowledge of Navsea standards, at least 2 years of ship repair experience, and strong communication skills to deconflict activities and support the IPS plan while maintaining strict safety practices onboard.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Hot Work per Navsea standards.
• Minimum 2 years contractor ship repair experience with hot work permits.
• Ability to navigate shipboard compartments and access areas.
• Ability to review permits for accuracy (adjacent spaces, type of hot work).
• Understand IPS and coordination with other Ship Superintendents.
• Ability to deconflict issues with Hot Work Supervisor.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Word and Excel for CFR reporting.
• Team-oriented with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate hot work notification and execution for daily ship repair.
• Receive, manage, and process hot work permits with ships force and contractor personnel.
• Maintain daily logs of hot work and document start/end times.
• Attend daily meetings to address conflicts and participate in FSC meetings.
• Generate CFR reports and two-week forecast reports.
• Deconflict permits with Hot Work Supervisor and Ships Management Team.
• Review IPS to avoid hot work during critical events.
• Ensure safety and PPE compliance.
• Coordinate with shipyard teams and management for safe operations.
