Job summary

NASSCO in Norfolk, VA seeks a Temporary Service Coordinator to support the Programs Department during ship repair and modernization efforts. This role requires coordinating temporary fire protection systems, structures, and hydrostatic testing across multiple departments and external entities.

The position works 0600–1445 and interacts with Waterfront Operations, EH&S, Planning, and Contract teams to ensure NAVSEA compliance. Prior military or shipyard experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred in business, engineering, or related field.
• Directly related experience required per education track.
• Military or shipyard background advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shipboard temporary fire safety services and related activities.
• Maintain Temporary/Fire Services Management Plans during availabilities.
• Coordinate temporary firefighting systems and laydown areas.
• Monitor compliance with NAVSEA 009-08 and fire safety rules.
• Engage with internal/external stakeholders for risk planning.
• Develop technical reports and professional presentations.
