Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. in the United States is seeking a yard operations role focused on directing crane operators and preparing railcars for loading and unloading. You will guide the crane crew and help position trailers and containers within the rail yard.

This role requires outdoor work in all weather, willingness to work day, swing, or night shifts, and strict adherence to safety rules. Training to operate a hostler is provided, with opportunities for growth within the company.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Open availability to work day, swing, night, weekends and holidays.
• Must comply with safety rules and wear safety equipment.
• Background check and drug screening completed successfully.

Responsibilities

• Prepares rail cars for the correct trailer/containers to be loaded.
• Directs crane operators in unloading/loading cargo containers.
• Installs inter box connector locks and climbs to remove/install locks.
• Sets the Derailer Spot chassis for inbound containers.
• Parks inbound/outbound trailers/containers for loading.
• Clears bare chassis away from tracks.

Summary

Responsible for directing crane operators in moving cargo containers and prepares railcars for loading and unloading. Once trained to operate a hostler you will drive trailers and chassis with containers around the rail yard terminal as they are loaded and unloaded to/from the train.

Shift Time

Must be able to work any of the following shift times assigned 6:00 am to 2:30 pm 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
