Summary

As a host/hostess reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing and leading daily front desk operations for the restaurant. Key responsibilities include oversight of regular and VIP clientele, development of private event contacts, concierge services, handling celebrity and international guests, database management, inventory of menu supplies, supply purchases, and ensuring guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Greet guests promptly as they enter the restaurant, making a positive first impression.
  • Greet guests warmly with a smile, making eye contact.
  • Always use guests’ names and acknowledge all VIPs by name.
  • Promote high service standards through friendliness, restaurant knowledge, and attentiveness.
  • Answer phones, manage reservations, and keep reservation records.
  • Collect and store menus, ensuring they are clean, current, and well-stocked.
  • Maintain an ample supply of collateral materials such as menus, business cards, and matches.
  • Know the floor plan, table numbers, and station charts thoroughly.
  • Create a warm, attentive, and courteous atmosphere.
  • Interact proactively with guests to build loyalty and recognition.
  • Handle guest requests positively and accept feedback gracefully.
  • Monitor table availability and readiness, ensuring smooth seating flow.
  • Keep accurate counts of guests and communicate with the kitchen and management.
  • Check table settings for completeness and cleanliness.
  • Follow procedures for waiting guests, including frequent check-backs.
  • Assist servers with menu questions and guest inquiries.
  • Thank guests upon departure, using their names when possible.
  • Maximize seating efficiency, including utilization of Seven Rooms.
  • Understand local market and surrounding area dynamics.
  • Have complete knowledge of menus, including structure, wine, cocktail, and beer programs.
  • Maintain equipment and anticipate guests’ needs.
  • Attend team meetings and communicate suggestions for improvement.
  • Manage menu changes and coordinate with the service team.
  • Comply with company policies and health regulations.
  • Report equipment and food issues promptly.
  • Maintain positive relations with coworkers and guests.
  • Follow daily side work duties diligently.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in high-volume, upscale dining in a major metro area.
  • Experience with online booking platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, Seven Rooms.
  • Attention to detail, effective communication, and written skills.
  • State-approved food handling certification.
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, Windows, etc.).
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership and self-motivation skills.
  • Professional demeanor and courtesy.
