POSITION SUMMARY
At San Pedro Fish Market, the Host must welcome and greet all guests upon arrival. Manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes. Maintain the flow of the restaurant so as to not overwhelm any given area and the guest experience is not compromised. To thank every guest as they depart. All position responsibilities must be performed in accordance with city, state, federal and Company policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HOST POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival.
- When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
- Effectively work the computerized seating and reservation system and provide guests with an estimated waiting time.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Seat guest guests based on guest preferences and balancing of guest.
- Answer phones with correct phone greeting and direct calls to the appropriate person or take messages.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the Host station and front entry of the restaurant.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
- Comply with all city, state, federal and Company food and beverage regulations, alcohol control policies, sanitation guidelines, and safety policies. Promptly report violations or concerns to management.
- Other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year related experience in a similar work environment.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with others.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand an extensive variety of work-related instructions and documents pertaining to Company operations, safety, finance, HR, and payroll.
- Basic computer skills, including Internet use, E-mail, and typing skills.
- Ability to use the Company’s timekeeping system and point of service system.
- Ability and willingness to learn and apply new work skill sets and concepts.
- Working knowledge of city, state, and federal hospitality laws and regulations.
