Job summary

CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar in Edina, MN is seeking an energetic host/hostess to manage seating, reservations, and guest flow. You will greet guests, answer phones, and ensure a smooth dining experience in a fast-paced environment.

This hourly role requires strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking, with hours typically starting in the morning and extending late, depending on business needs.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with guests, servers, and management.
• Basic reading skills required for menus and orders.

• Ability to visually scan for clean, unoccupied tables.

Responsibilities

• Check in all guests and manage seating using OpenTable.
• Answer phones, take reservations and takeout orders.
• Keep menus clean and organized.
• Greet and seat guests; assist on floor with flow.
• Print special chits and relay instructions to servers.
• Review open reservations and plan the shift.
• Capture guest information in OpenTable for reference.
• Coordinate with manager to maintain wait times.
• Keep restrooms and host stand clean and stocked.
• Interact with guests to ensure a positive dining experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for checking in all employees and highlighting on the Open Table system.
• Answer the phone, take reservations, and take takeout orders.
• Ensures menus are clean and organized.
• Greet, check in and seat guests.
• Print any special chits off open table with special instructions hand off to server upon their checking in.
• Review all of the open table reservations and map out the plan for the shift.
• Utilize open table to make sure to capture important information about guests.
• Work with manager on the floor to ensure the proper wait time.
• Ensure restrooms and the host stand are clean, stocked and organized.
• Interacts with guests to ensure positive dining experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent communication skills (verbally interacts with management, servers, team members and guests.)
• Basic reading skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must visually scan restaurant for clean, unoccupied tables.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is an hourly paid position. Days and hours of work vary according to business hours and job requirements. Business operates seven (7) days a week; and hours start as early as 9 AM and can go as late as 2 AM depending on the work required.
