Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting partners with a growing hospitality ownership and management group seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a portfolio of hotels. The role requires ownership, problem solving, team development, and driving financial process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in hospitality accounting, GAAP expertise, and a proven ability to manage multi-property financials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial hotel accounting experience.
• Direct experience managing accounting for multiple hotels or hospitality properties.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage accounting operations and resolve complex financial discrepancies.
• Experience supervising accounting staff and improving accounting processes.
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
• Comfortable learning new systems and adapting to technology-driven accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations for a portfolio of hotels, ensuring accurate financial reporting and GAAP compliance.
• Manage monthly and year-end closings, reconciliations, budgets, and multi-property financial statements.
• Resolve accounting backlogs, improve financial accuracy, and streamline processes and internal controls.
• Lead accounting system improvements and support the transition to a new hospitality accounting platform.
• Oversee cash management, banking, vendor payments, capital expenditures, and financial reporting to ownership and lenders.
• Support audits, tax preparation, hotel acquisitions, and financial due diligence.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team, establishing accountability and efficient workflows.
• Partner with ownership and hotel operations to support continued growth and expansion.
