Job summary

Bsdbusinessconsulting is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a large, fast-paced hospitality environment. The role reports to the Director of Finance and oversees accurate financial reporting, payroll oversight, and development of the accounting team.

The ideal candidate will have hospitality accounting experience, preferably with multiple properties, strong GAAP knowledge, and proven ability to manage month-end close, internal controls, and staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Progressive finance or accounting experience in hospitality hotels/resorts/casinos preferred.
• Hospitality accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing financial operations of multiple properties.
• GAAP know-how and internal controls experience.
• Month-end close and financial-statement prep experience.
• Supervising or mentoring accounting professionals.
• Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable and payroll operations.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Experience with Office 365 and accounting/payroll systems.
• Ability to work in fast-paced hospitality environment.
• On-site work in Pocono Manor, PA.
• Weekend/holiday availability may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activities and month-end/year-end close.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and prepare analyses.
• Oversee payroll, AP, AR, income audit, night audit, and management reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and GAAP compliance.
• Review journal entries and support audits.
• Oversee payroll processing.
• Train and develop Finance and Accounting team.
• Provide financial insight to operations leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve procedures and controls.
• Participate in leadership meetings and special projects.

We are seeking a Financial Controller to help lead the accounting and financial operations of a large, fast-paced hospitality environment. This position reports to the Director of Finance and is responsible for accurate financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, payroll oversight, and development of the accounting team.

This opportunity is well suited for an Assistant Controller, experienced Senior Accountant ready to take the next step, or an early-career Controller with hospitality accounting experience.

Candidates must have experience within the hospitality industry, with preference for individuals who have supported the financial operations of multiple properties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activities and month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile balance-sheet accounts and prepare financial and variance analyses.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, night audit, payroll, and management reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Review journal entries and support internal and external audits.
• Oversee payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing.
• Manage, train, mentor, and develop Finance and Accounting team members.
• Partner with department leaders and senior management to provide financial insight and support operational decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, controls, systems, and overall efficiency.
• Participate in leadership meetings, operational initiatives, and special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Progressive Finance or Accounting experience, ideally within hotels, resorts, casinos, or another hospitality environment.
• Hospitality accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting or managing the financial operations of multiple properties.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close and financial-statement preparation.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting professionals.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related accounting operations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and accounting/payroll systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.
• Ability to work on-site in Pocono Manor, PA.
• Flexibility to support a hospitality operation that may require occasional weekend or holiday availability.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate may currently be working as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller within the hospitality industry and is ready to take on broader financial and leadership responsibility.

Experience supporting multiple hotel, resort, casino, or hospitality properties is highly desirable.
