Job summary

Extended Stay America in Secaucus, NJ is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to help keep guest rooms and facilities in top condition. You will perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine tasks to ensure safety and comfort for guests and staff.

You will follow Green Shield Binder standards, maintain records, and coordinate with management and outside vendors. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.

Qualifications

• Read and speak English proficiently and interact with guests, associates and outside vendors.
• Understand and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and company guidelines and standards.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Use units of measurement for weight, volume and distance.
• Apply good judgment at all times.
• Assist with resolving guest issues in accordance with company policies.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and promotes a 100% commitment to providing the best possible experience for our guests and associates.
• Works with minimal supervision while performing all essential duties to satisfaction and within company standards.
• Responds to and assists with all guest requests with diligent follow-through in accordance with company guidelines and procedures.
• Performs the out of room cleaning to maintain pristine premises including trash removal and cleaning of building interiors/exteriors, grounds, and related areas.
• Performs repairs listed on work orders and completes repairs in a timely and professional manner.
• Completes preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as outlined in the Green Shield Binder.
• Follows the Green Shield Inspection schedule daily to complete tasks in a timely fashion.
• Maintains records such as PM deficiencies, PM inspections, life safety inspections, elevator inspections, and non-guest room deficiencies.
• Maintains organized maintenance areas and tool inventory daily.
• Maintains boiler rooms, electric rooms, HVAC rooms, and fire sprinkler rooms per standards.
• Ensures fire safety equipment is operational and inspections are current.
• Complies with safety and security policies including OSHA and ADA.
• Maintains pool/spa maintenance where applicable and in compliance with local ordinance.
• Assists with emergencies at the property or sister sites as needed.
• Monitors and coordinates with outside vendors as directed by management.
• Assists with cleaning hotel areas as needed and maintains overall cleanliness.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
