Job summary

Gensler in New York, NY is seeking an experienced interior designer to join a team focused on meaningful environments rooted in culture, time, and place. You will lead programming, conceptual design, and construction documentation for projects, coordinating with consultants and clients to ensure design intent is realized.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years post‑grad experience, strong skills in Revit/AutoCAD/SketchUp, and a portfolio highlighting sustainable design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school.
• 5+ years post‑grad interior design experience.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D, Rhino, Grasshopper, and other modeling software programs.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability with projects such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL, Fitwell, or Net Zero.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior design assignments including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation.
• Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections for construction.
• Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts.
• Communicate design ideas by hand sketching and/or digital graphics.
• Independently create material palettes and inspiration image boards.
• Collaborate with external consultants, product reps, furniture dealers, and fabricators.
• Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and authorities.
• Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions for complex challenges.
• Produce Revit technical and contract documentation for construction.
• Coordinate finished plans, specs, and materials with the design intent.
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, resolve issues, and maintain quality.
• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and regulators to meet project objectives.
• Create 3D renderings (Enscape preferred) to communicate concepts.
