Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Hospitality Ambassador in the Norfolk/VA area. The role involves high-visibility street-level duties to improve the zone's experience and appearance, along with engaging pedestrians and providing city information.

Responsibilities include litter removal, outdoor surface maintenance, and reporting safety concerns. Must be 18+, have a HS Diploma or GED, and be able to work outdoors in all weather. English communication is required.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, but not required; training provided.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be physically able to walk/traverse during an eight-hour shift with breaks
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions; uniforms provided
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide high visibility at street level to improve experience and appearance of the zone.
• Acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting to provide directions and information.
• Perform litter removal and damp wipe outdoor surfaces; remove graffiti and posters.
• Be watchful for unsafe behaviors and report to Safety Ambassadors; complete daily task reports in English.

Job Title: Hospitality Ambassador

Pay Range: $18.50to $18.50per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

Shift/Schedule

• Tues. - Thu. from 12:00pm to 9:00pm
• Fri. & Sat. from 3:00pm to 12:00am

Valid Driver's License REQUIRED

What You'll Be Doing

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall experience and appearance of the zone they are assigned to. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc. Pull weeds.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
