Job summary

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL seeks a full-time Clinician-Teacher in Internal Medicine to lead hospitalist care, teach students and residents, and advance clinical education and scholarly activities.

The role features a heavy service component (CFTE 87.5%), substantial clinical teaching time, and requires ABIM certification or eligibility, an MD/DO, and Illinois medical licensure. Academic inpatient/outpatient experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited medical school program.
• Graduate of formal specialty training program in Internal Medicine.
• Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine or eligibility for ABIM.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or licensed prior to employment.
• Sensitivity to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach, mentor, and supervise students and residents in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Prepare lectures, seminars, and rounds for learners in the Department of Medicine.
• Participate in university, hospital and regional service activities.
• Complete inpatient and outpatient consultations and develop professional practice in line with departmental policy.
