About the Role
The Department of Internal Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Internal Medicine physician to join our Hospitalist team. This is an exciting opportunity to practice within a highly collaborative oncology-focused inpatient environment where multidisciplinary teamwork, compassionate care, and clinical excellence are central to the patient experience.
Hospitalists at Roswell Park play an essential role in delivering comprehensive inpatient care for medically complex oncology patients across the solid tumor and hematologic oncology services. Working alongside advanced practice providers, oncologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams, the successful candidate will contribute to coordinated, patient-centered care while helping ensure continuity, safety, and operational excellence across the inpatient setting.
This role is ideal for a physician who thrives in a team-oriented environment, values collaborative medicine, and is passionate about caring for patients facing complex oncologic conditions.
What You’ll Do
Provide comprehensive inpatient Internal Medicine care for patients on the solid tumor service
Perform admissions, history and physical examinations, progress notes, and ongoing inpatient management
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary oncology teams to support coordinated patient-centered care
Participate in 24/7 inpatient coverage alongside the Hospitalist team and advanced practice providers
Support after-hours care for hematology oncology inpatients and collaborate with the Assessment and Treatment Center (ATC)
Participate in after-hours triage support and inpatient clinical coordination
Serve as an integral member of rapid response and code teams
Co-manage patients and clinical services in collaboration with consulting medical staff as needed
Work collaboratively with oncologists, intensivists, nursing teams, advanced practice providers, and support services to ensure continuity of care and optimal resource utilization
Participate actively in quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
Foster strong communication and collaborative relationships across clinical departments
Contribute to a culture aligned with High Reliability Organization principles emphasizing safety, accountability, compassion, and teamwork
Practice within a supportive inpatient infrastructure including 24/7 in-house intensivist coverage
No procedural responsibilities required
Collaborate with a highly supportive Interventional Radiology team and multidisciplinary inpatient services

What You’ll Bring
MD, DO, or equivalent degree with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Internal Medicine
Eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in the State of New York
Current ACLS certification
Strong clinical skills and experience managing medically complex inpatient populations
Commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered inpatient care
Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary oncology and inpatient care teams
Interest in quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence initiatives
